Individual therapy is perhaps the most classic therapy. It involves the therapist and client sitting in a room together (No one lies on a couch as in classic psychoanalysis). Clients appreciate the ability to have the full one-on-one attention of the therapist and feel more open to work through the problems that bring them in.

In individual therapy, the "fit" between therapist and client is very important. You, as the client, have to feel very comfortable in working with me. Usually a phone converation or an in-person consultation helps determine this right away. Please feel free to contact me to see if we are a good fit.

Clients come to me for a variety of reasons. Here is a partial list of the types of symptoms or problems I have seen and helped resolve.

  • low self-esteem
  • becoming hyper focused on weight or calories

  • frequently crying or feeling sad
  • feeling numb

  • obsessing often
  • poor body image

  • cutting or burning
  • stuck in a dysfunctional pattern

  • eating disordered behaviour
  • not feeling good enough
