I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker (#10562) with the BC College of Social Workers and a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#11330) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I received my MSW (Masters of Social Work) from Smith College School for Social Work in 2005 with an emphasis in clinical counseling. I did my undergraduate work at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. I conducted my practical training at John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, both in Baltimore, Maryland. As part of my commitment to continuing education, I regularly attend workshops, lectures, and readings to remain informed and educated about cutting-edge ideas in psychotherapy. I consider myself a lifelong student.
I see therapy as one part of the bigger picture of health. Alongside therapy, I believe it is important to be mindful about your body, mind, and spirit. I attempt to live my own life in accordance with these principles and at times I will encourage clients to take up other activities, in addition to therapy, in order to improve their mental health.
